On August 5, Vietnam Airlines began trial operations of its in-flight Internet access service on Airbus A350 aircraft.
The service is available on select aircraft equipped with ViaSat Internet-connected satellite systems in the U.S., and includes free 15-minute text messaging (Zalo, Viber, WhatsApp, etc.) on all classes of domestic and international flights. For international flights, three pricing plans are available: unlimited text messaging during the flight (US$5), one-hour web browsing (US$10), and unlimited web browsing during the flight (US$20, free until December 2025 for business class passengers). The company plans to expand the service to all aircraft of the same type by the end of 2026, and to increase the number of payment methods and usage plan options in the future.
The company currently operates more than 100 routes between 22 domestic and 31 overseas destinations in Vietnam, using Boeing 787-9, 787-10, Airbus A350-900 XWB, A320, and A321neo aircraft.
On Japan routes, the airline operates flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from five airports: Narita, Haneda, Centrair (Chubu), Kansai International Airport, and Fukuoka. From Narita and Kansai International Airports, the airline also offers flights to Da Nang.
