BHCPDII MUSEUM is a facility where visitors can tour the new factory and have their own “plastic model designer experience” under the theme of “designing the value of plastic models. The facility exhibits the know-how and commitment that the company has cultivated over 50 years of plastic model manufacturing, as well as the latest technologies that support product quality, making it a facility where both children and adults can enjoy learning about manufacturing.

The museum is a 3-minute walk from Shizuoka Railway’s Naganuma Station. It is visible from the platform, so access is very easy. The entrance is up a flight of stairs with the Gunpla Monument at the side. After passing the entrance, you will be able to start the museum.

The first thing that catches the eye is the design road lined with product proposals. We only had time to look at them during our visit, but since they are not something we normally see, we would have liked to take our time and look at them. Just past this area is the “Study Area. This is an exhibit that shows a series of processes that go into the making of a plastic model, as well as a glimpse of the company’s dedication to craftsmanship.

After passing the area where 4,000 Gunpla models are lined up, you will come to the “Laboratory Area” where there is a hands-on corner. Using the “DESIGNER ID,” an ID card for hands-on experience, visitors can perform “modeling,” and then proceed to “coloring,” “molding,” “injection,” and “package design” to create their own plastic models. The stickers of the package design you created will be printed, so you can take them home with you along with the museum’s limited-edition molded products. There is also a vending machine in the final plastic model exhibit area where visitors can purchase limited-edition goods.

Since this was a preview, we were only able to take a very cursory look, but the richness of the contents is sure to satisfy even the most discerning plastic model enthusiast. Although many reservations have already been made, mainly for weekends, there is still a certain amount of space available on weekdays. Those who want to experience it are advised to make reservations as early as possible.
