USJ’s horror tour into a zombie manufacturing factory was too scary. Advanced Level Haunted Mansion opens for Halloween only.

Universal Studios Japan will hold “Halloween Event 2025” starting tomorrow, September 4.

One of the attractions that will be the center of attention is the new attraction “Factory of Fear: Zombie Tour of Despair,” which will open on September 5. This is a USJ original themed on a tour of a “zombie manufacturing factory” and is said to offer nightmarish terror, so I went ahead and experienced it firsthand (no spoilers below).

The stage is a dilapidated factory where “USJ’s biggest secret is hidden”. As the tour guide explains the facility, horrifying facts and conspiracies related to zombies are revealed. As grotesque zombies close in on the guests in a locked room with no escape route, they must overcome their fears and attempt to escape.

It is a so-called “haunted house” type attraction that begins with a pre-show and then takes visitors through various zombie-type rooms, including the history of the factory, injection and resuscitation, transformation, and a jail cell. Although not officially stated, it takes about 10 minutes from the time you enter to the time you leave. However, the experience felt much longer and more terrifying than I had imagined.

This is an advanced level, which should be noted not only for those who are not good at horror films, but also for those who are good at them. If you challenge this level with a group of friends or family, you can easily succeed in “certain missions” given in the story.

We hope you will come and witness the shocking climax.
