The manga is part of JICA’s “Artists in Project,” and the story was completed over the course of a year by Japanese artist Akiko Flo Minowa and the Managua City Hall. It is hoped that Nicaraguan children will learn the importance of protecting the nature of Lake Managua and work to improve the environment through the adventures, excitement, and joy of the cartoon characters Salt and Santi.

The unveiling was attended by the Mayor of Managua City, the Minister of Education, Nicaraguan Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ogino, JICA Director Kotani, and 120 elementary school students from Managua City, making the event a grand success. In conjunction with the cartoon unveiling, an educational song for environmental conservation of Lake Managua created by the City of Managua was performed, and all participants renewed their awareness of the importance of Lake Managua and environmental conservation, and the importance of learning while having fun.
