JR East (East Japan Railway), Keiyo Coastal Railway, and Kominato Railway will hold a tour called “D Power” on June 25 and 26, which allows visitors to experience the “sounds and smells” of diesel trains and the sights and sounds that are unique to freight stations. The tour is for junior high school students and older and costs 24,000 yen.
There are two courses, “A” and “B”. The course A and B will visit the freight station and the Goi engine station in Kominato railroad. At the freight station, you can see the disassembly of coupling and brake test of freight cars, powerful engine start of locomotives, and photo session of single railcars and container freight cars.
At Kominato Kominato Railway, you will be able to listen to a deep diesel story by an employee, see a powerful diesel engine start, and be served a unique lunch box made with seasonal clams in the train.
