Expo reiterates call for ban on oversized baggage. Announced that the number of people returning to Sakurajima and Benten Stations was approximately 60%, even though the 10,000 yen checked baggage fee did not reduce the number of people returning to Sakurajima and Benten Stations.

The Japan Association for the International Exposition, 2025, has announced on its official website that large baggage is prohibited from being brought into the Osaka-Kansai Expo site.

Large baggage is a bag with wheels, such as a suitcase, carry-on case, or cart that carries goods. Also, regardless of shape, items exceeding the size 600 x 900 x 400 mm (W x D x H) of the X-ray inspection device are included in oversized baggage.

In order to alleviate public transportation congestion, maintain order at the venue, and ensure safety and security, visitors are asked to leave their luggage in lockers at lodging facilities, train stations and airports, the “Temporary Large Luggage Deposit Boxes” at Benten-cho Station and Sakurajima Station, and coin lockers (330 x 500 x 240 mm, about 300 pieces each) located outside the East and West gates. The organizers also encourage visitors to leave their luggage in coin lockers (330 x 500 x 240 mm, about 300 each) located outside the East and West gates.

If you happen to bring oversized luggage or luggage with wheels to the venue, as a special exception, it will be kept at the gate for a fee (10,000 yen per piece). However, since there is a limit of 100 pieces each at the East and West gates, approximately 60% of visitors with oversized baggage will be asked to turn around and head to the temporary storage areas at Sakurajima Station and Benten-cho Station.

Please check the “Requests from Osaka-Kansai Expo” for details on what to check before coming and what baggage to bring.
