Nankai Railway unveils exterior design of new sightseeing train. The name is “GRAN Tenkuu.

Posted on 2025-10-212025-10-21 by Editor in Chief

Nankai Electric Railway has decided to name its new sightseeing train “GRAN Tenkuu,” which is scheduled to begin operation at the end of fiscal 2025.

GRAN Tenku is a new sightseeing train connecting Namba Station and Gokurakubashi Station, replacing the currently operating sightseeing train Tenku (between Hashimoto Station and Gokurakubashi Station). The name was decided after an in-house public contest and a public vote, and the company says, “We would like to provide our customers with a trip where everyone can spend a peaceful time in a calm space and with our heartfelt hospitality.

In conjunction with the name decision, details of the logo and exterior design were also released. The exterior design is based on a deep red with gold-toned decorations, and the side design of each car is inspired by Nankai Electric Railway’s company emblem (commonly known as the “Haguruma mark”) with gracefully spread wings, expressing the company’s wish for passengers to expand their travel possibilities. In addition, the cars are decorated with motifs of rhododendrons that bloom in Koyasan (Mt. Koya) and other plants that are associated with the train line.

Information on GRAN Tenku operations, vehicles, and services will be provided on a special website to be released at 10:00 a.m. on November 6, 2012.
