On May 24, JICA Special Advisor Shinichi Kitaoka met with President Ange Nilina Rajolina of the Republic of Madagascar during his visit.
Special Advisor Kitaoka mentioned the country’s potential for development due to Madagascar’s hardworking people, and also stated that Japan’s experience in modernization can contribute greatly to solving Madagascar’s development issues. He also introduced the efforts of the JICA Chair (Support Program for Establishment of Japanese Studies Chair), where he will serve as a lecturer during this visit.
In response, President Rajolina expressed his agreement with the importance of learning from Japan’s experience and his appreciation for JICA’s cooperation, which is in line with Madagascar’s development priorities in education, agriculture, energy, water, and infrastructure development.
In addition, we exchanged views on Japan’s experience in the modernization process regarding agricultural promotion measures and the challenges and potential of agriculture in Madagascar.
