Ikaros Publishing, an Impress Group company that handles media business in the aviation and railroad fields, will release “Shinkansen Photography Complete Guide” by Michinobu Otsuru on June 21. The book is priced at 2,200 yen.
How can we take beautiful and cool pictures of the Shinkansen bullet train, which is one of the most difficult types of train photography? This book presents professional techniques to achieve this goal. This book is full of hints and tips for beginners and experienced photographers alike to learn the joys of photographing the Shinkansen and the depth of expression.
Based on the popular “Aiming for a little better Shinkansen photography” series in the quarterly “Shinkansen EX,” the new articles in this issue thoroughly explain how to take more attractive pictures of the bullet-like Shinkansen by capturing the bullet train with a logical approach.
The author is Michinobu Ohtsuru, a railroad photographer. He teaches tips for creating photographs from a professional’s point of view that are not taught in conventional knowhow books, such as how to read a map to find a shooting location, how to read and manipulate light, and techniques for incorporating a sense of the four seasons. He also introduces a variety of methods of expression, from image modification to printing methods, framing, and solo exhibitions.
