The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the Government of the Republic of Kenya on June 16 in Mombasa for a grant of up to 6 billion yen for the “Infrastructure Development Project in Mombasa Special Economic Zone in Dongokundu Region.
Based on the “Mombasa Special Economic Zone Development Master Plan” formulated with the cooperation of JICA, this project aims to strengthen the water supply capacity and stabilize storm water drainage in the area by constructing water supply facilities, renovating storm water drainage channels, and developing land for the development of a special economic zone to be established on the south bank of Mombasa Port. The project is expected to strengthen the water supply capacity and stabilize stormwater drainage in the area. By improving the investment environment in the region, this project is expected to increase private investment and promote logistics in the African region as a whole, thereby contributing to SDG Goal 8 (both job satisfaction and economic growth).
