JR West announced the outline of Rokujizo Station on the Nara Line, which is undergoing improvement work and is scheduled to be put into service in spring 2023.
The station building and platforms will be relocated in the Kyoto direction as part of the improvement. This will improve safety by reducing the number of curved sections on the platform, and will also make it easier to transfer to the nearby Kyoto Municipal Subway Tozai Line. An elevator to the platform will also be installed.
The station building will feature a hexagonal atrium space inspired by the Daizenji Rokkakudo (Rokujizoson), which is the origin of the station’s name, based on the concept of “a new gateway to inherit the history of Rokujizo and lead the development of the surrounding area.
