ResortGrandPing.com has begun accepting reservations for Matsumoto Satoyama Doors (874-5 Okada-Shitaokada, Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture), which will open on August 1.
Matsumoto Satoyama Doors, built in a satoyama at an elevation of 720 meters, is Japan’s first “toy museum where you can stay overnight” surrounded by 60 kinds of wooden toys from all over the world. Not only can children play freely while experiencing the warmth of wood, but the whole family can also have fun through outdoor experiences such as chopping wood, making fire, and making sausages.
There are four room types. The “Large Rooms” in the main Toyokan building are equipped with a bed, a small tatami room, and a loft bed, and can accommodate up to 6 people, from 9,600 yen per night (when 4 people use the room). The “small rooms” with loft beds overlooking the starlit sky can accommodate up to four people and start at 6,400 yen per night (when four people use the room). On the other hand, each of the private gers is equipped with a wood stove, cold fan, shower, toilet, and hearth on a wooden deck where you can also cook, making for a comfortable stay. The large size ger with a capacity of 5 persons is priced from 13,600 yen per night (for 4 persons), and the standard size ger with a capacity of 4 persons is priced from 12,800 yen per night (for 4 persons).
For dinner, you can choose from a variety of dishes such as char-grilled char or landlocked salmon raised in the clear streams of the Northern Alps, Azumino spare ribs stewed in a Dutch oven, or Shinshu jingisukan with plenty of vegetables. For breakfast, freshly baked croissants are served along with the main course. Guests can enjoy fresh ingredients purchased directly from local farmers.
