The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Yen Loan Agreement (L/A) of up to 100 billion yen with the Government of India for the “Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project (Phase III)” in Delhi on July 25.
This project aims to establish a high-frequency mass passenger transportation system by constructing a high-speed railroad using Japan’s Shinkansen system along a 500 km section between Mumbai in Maharashtra and Ahmedabad in Gujarat. The project will improve the efficiency of the transportation network in the region and contribute to the broad economic development of the target area. It will also contribute to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Goals 8 (both job satisfaction and economic growth), 9 (create a foundation for industrial and technological innovation), 11 (create cities where people can continue to live), and 13 (take concrete measures to address climate change). ).
