A new outdoor experience started at “Metza Village”, a Scandinavian resort spreading out. We enjoyed clear kayaking and excellent BBQ!

Peaceful private time spent on a boat on the lake Metsa Village is a commercial facility adjacent to Moomin Valley Park where visitors can experience the Scandinavian lifestyle. Moomin Valley Park requires a fee, but Metza Village is a free admission area, so visitors can feel free to drop by as if they were in a “fashionable park. The symbol of Metsa, which combines Metsa Village and Moomin Valley Park, is Lake Miyazawa, which spreads out before your eyes. Clear Kayak” and “Island Boat” have newly appeared as outdoor contents that can be enjoyed on the lake. The departure and arrival points are at the newly built pier called “Metsa Pier. I put on a life vest and gave it a try right away. I thought, “What is a clear kayak? As the name suggests, it is a kayak made of transparent material. The feeling of floating on the lake was unique, and I felt like I was closer to the water. Before getting on the boat, the staff will give you a lecture on how to hold the oar and when you want to go straight, turn right, turn left, etc. Don’t worry. The kayak can be used by elementary school students and older if accompanied by a parent or guardian. This clear kayak can accommodate up to two people, and the fee is 3,000 yen (one hour). Next, we boarded an island boat. This boat is powered by an electric motor, so you don’t have to paddle to keep going. It looks like a fun ride for a group of good friends or a family. Once you get to your favorite spot, you can just float there and enjoy chatting as if you were in a floating café on the lake. The fee for an island boat ride is 6,000 yen (one hour), or 1,000 yen per person for a party of six.

And bring your pooch along! UTEPILS BBQ (UTEPILS BBQ) for easy, hands-free fun After boating on the lake, we enjoyed a barbecue by the lake. Surprisingly, there were no BBQ facilities at Mezza Village. There are a total of 20 pleasant BBQ sites set up along the lakeside. Six of the sites are dog-friendly. There are two BBQ courses, the “Saibok Ham and Pork Course” and the “Premium Beef Course,” both priced at 5,900 yen per person, and a kids’ BBQ course priced at 2,750 yen per person. Both courses include site usage fees and, happily, all-you-can-drink and all-you-can-eat seasonal vegetables! In addition to beer, highballs, sours, and other alcoholic beverages, a variety of soft drinks such as Coca-Cola, ginger ale, and calpis are also available. It is also possible to bring your own food and just rent the place. As many of you may know, Saibok Ham is a food processing company located in neighboring Hidaka City. The company also has a directly managed store in Mezza Village. I am a big fan of Saiboku’s unquestionably delicious pork, and the Saiboku meat course includes Golden Pork Chunk Loin (120g), Bacon Block (100g), and Frankfurter (45g). The other premium beef course offers Wagyu beef ribs, beef loin, and chicken thigh. It is hard to decide which one to choose.

Perfect for a girls’ night out! Enjoy a relaxing holiday at Hygge Terrace “Hygge” means “comfortable space” or “spending a comfortable time” in Danish. Hygge” is a Scandinavian word for “comfortable space” or “comfortable time.” This is a word that can only be used in Scandinavia, where people are said to be highly happy. This area, named “Hygge Terrace,” is furnished with sofas and tables, and a tent is set up next to it. It can be rented for the entire day (10:00-17:00) for 10,000 yen per couple, with a maximum of four people per couple. There are only five lots in total, and the spacious design was a nice touch. This private space is perfect for reading or chatting with friends. First, you can enjoy a welcome drink at the Ute Pils BBQ, and after that, you can refill your soft drinks as you like. You can also bring your own sandwiches or lunch boxes. Please note that the use of BBQ, bonfires, fireworks, and other fires, as well as music and musical instruments are prohibited here.
