MAP (Android/iOS version), a map application provided by Yahoo! MAP, has expanded its search functionality to include “indoor routes” and “indoor maps” of commercial facilities in and around Shibuya Station.
The Shibuya area is currently undergoing redevelopment, and the complex structure of Shibuya Station is famous as one of the easiest stations in Japan to get lost in. Against this backdrop, in addition to the existing “outdoor route,” the company has begun offering an “indoor route” that takes into consideration up-and-down movements such as escalators so that users can reach their destinations by the most appropriate route without getting lost.
In locations where the “indoor map” is available, such as Shibuya Hikarie, a “floor switch button” is provided in the lower left corner of the map, and tenant names are displayed for each store by tapping and enlarging the floor to be checked. In addition, information on ticket gates, entrances and exits, public restrooms, elevators, ATMs, and coin lockers can also be viewed on the map.
The indoor route search function has been introduced at Tokyo Station, Shinjuku Station, and Osaka Station, and the indoor map function has been introduced at LaLaport TOKYO-BAY, and this is the first time that the Shibuya area will include a station and its surrounding facilities.
