Kasumigaura General Park is located in the west of Kasumigaura. “Dutch Windmill,” whose blades are 20 m in diameter and the tower is 7 m high, and its middle section is an observation deck. The windmill is not just for decoration, but was designed and installed to purify the water of Kasumigaura by using the force of the wind to feed the water into a filtration system. Unfortunately, there were no flowers at this time of the year, but it is decorated with colorful flowers depending on the season, delighting the eyes of visitors.
Ushiku-numa is located 13 km southwest of there. There is a legend of kappa here, and in the Iris Garden, a statue of a kappa is placed in the center of the pond, on the parapet of the Mikazuki Bridge. It is a quiet place with the atmosphere of a kappa.
Kasumigaura General Park is close to Tsuchiura Station and has other facilities such as playground equipment that can be enjoyed by families. Ushikunuma Swamp, with its Kappa no Koiro (path of the kappa), is a good place for a quiet stroll.
