The Finnish National Tourist Organization will hold “Iittala Exhibition: Sparkling Finnish Glass” at Bunkamura The Museum (2-24-1 Dogenzaka, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo). The exhibition will run from September 17 to November 10.
Iittala, a leading Scandinavian lifestyle brand, celebrates its 140th anniversary in 2021. To commemorate this anniversary, the exhibition will feature 450 products, including ceramics and porcelain, that continue to be loved around the world, with a focus on classic designs from the mid-20th century that symbolize Iittala’s history. Visitors can experience Finnish culture through the history and art of Iittala, which has grown from a small glassworks in a remote village to a major glass manufacturer.
Kai Frank, who led the development of Finnish design, is also known for his influence on Japanese culture, and this is the first time for a large-scale traveling exhibition like this to be held at a Japanese museum.
