Universal Studios Japan (USJ) has been holding the limited-time Halloween event “NO LIMIT! Halloween” since September 8, 2010. This is a popular annual event for USJ, but since it was scaled back in 2020 and 2021 due to the new Corona, it is the first time in three years that it has been held in its full It will be the first time in three years that the event will be held in its full form.
The park entrance will be filled with cute events for children and adults alike, including a meet and greet with My Melody & Kuromi and Minions, who will greet visitors in Halloween costumes. On the other hand, many attractions that have age and other restrictions due to their stimulating nature are making a full return on a larger scale, including Street Zombies, which will be held on one of the largest scales in history. For the first time in a long time, visitors can enjoy a full package of both cute and fun events as well as events filled with fear and excitement. “NO LIMIT! Halloween” will be held until November 6, 2012. During this period, limited food menus and original goods will be available, and the entire park will be colored in Halloween colors for a special two-month period.
Here are some of the attractions and other features that were unveiled prior to this event. First, My Melody and Kuromi, who can be seen at the park entrance. No need to explain anymore, right? No matter what costume they wear or how they pose like ghosts, cute is cute. The special feeling of Halloween costumes that you can only see at this time of year is irresistible. Also, even in their special Halloween costumes, the Minions can’t help but be humorous. You can enjoy a special meet and greet with these special friends only at this time of year.
On the other hand, among the more exciting horror attractions, the four that can be enjoyed all day are “Resident Evil the Extreme+,” “Universal Monsters: Legend of Fear,” “Cult of Chucky: Chucky’s Ward of Madness,” and the horror theater’s “Sherlock Holmes The Sword of the Cursed Rose”.
Resident Evil the Extreme+” is an extreme attraction that allows visitors to experience the world of Resident Evil by confronting zombies and other creatures with their friends, and to enjoy both the tension and the sense of accomplishment of reaching the goal. Even more extreme is “Cult of Chucky: Chucky’s Ward of Madness. To be honest, this attraction, in which you are involved in a murder drama set in a hospital, is too extreme. I don’t want children to see it, and even many adults may have a hard time with it. It is so extreme that even adults may have trouble with it. However, among the members of the press who experienced it, the women in particular seemed to be having a lot of fun afterwards, even though they were screaming with excitement. It is definitely a stimulating attraction that cannot be experienced anywhere else.
USJ, where visitors spend the daytime enjoying these terrifying attractions, heats up even more at night with “Halloween Horror Nights”. The “Street Zombies” program, in which a record number of zombies appear on the streets at night, is both scary and beautiful, complete with projection mapping. The finale will be “Zombie de Dance,” a Ratata dance with a spooky circus troupe led by Hamikuma and zombies.
The Hamikuma is a bizarre bear character with protruding eyes and viscera, but it is a wonder that it looks so cute when it gets this far. The juggling show on the stage, the bizarre and flexible dancing, the projection mapping and smoke on the building, and the sense of unity between the stage and the visitors all dancing at the same time are the best moments of the festival. It’s a great time to be in high spirits. Although there is no age limit, preschoolers and elementary school students must be accompanied by an adult.
During the “NO LIMIT! Halloween” period, restaurants and stores will be offering a variety of limited-edition menus and goods, so you can enjoy the Halloween spirit here as well. The restaurants in the park are authentic, with food prepared from scratch in the restaurant kitchens, and USJ is actually very particular about its food.
The “Resident Evil Plate” at Finnegan’s Bar & Grill, which we chose for lunch. Each dish, which was inspired by the emergency food in Raccoon City, the setting of Resident Evil, was quite authentic and unique, and I was satisfied with their attention to detail. There are also food stall-style eateries located throughout the park, and the food is authentic and hearty, so be careful not to overeat. Furthermore, it is important to note that USJ also has restaurants where you can drink alcohol. There is also a wide variety of original Halloween goods that are available only for a limited time, and there are more than 100 of them, so you can enjoy the Halloween spirit just by looking at them in the stores.
Cute characters are dressed up in Halloween costumes for added cuteness. The scary attractions are not overly scary and eerie. At night, everyone in the park danced together. It was so special and full of excitement.
For those who are at a loss as to where to start, there is the “R.I.P. Tour,” where a dedicated guide will take you around the park and offer special services. You can enjoy the park efficiently with a guide, or eat, drink, play, watch, be scared, dance, and enjoy your own unique way of having fun. USJ was all about Halloween in autumn.
