The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the Government of Nepal on September 21 in Kathmandu for a grant of up to 2.256 billion yen for the “Rehabilitation of Irrigation Facilities in the Eastern Tarai” project.
This project aims to improve the stable supply and efficient use of irrigation water in the eastern part of the Tarai Plain, which accounts for about 80% of the country’s total irrigated area, through the renovation of existing irrigation facilities. This project is expected to improve agricultural productivity in the target area and contribute to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Goal 1 (Eliminate Poverty) and Goal 2 (Zero Hunger).
