Ferry Sunflower will launch Japan’s first LNG-fueled ferry, Sunflower Kurenai, on the Osaka-Beppu route on January 13, 2023, starting with the outbound service (from Osaka to Beppu).
The “Sunflower Kurenai” is a newly built ship that uses LNG (liquefied natural gas) energy, which reduces CO2 emissions. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the 199.9-meter-long large ship is quiet and quiet, and private cabins have been greatly increased on board to provide privacy. The ship also features spacious public spaces.
The second vessel, Sunflower Murasaki, is scheduled to enter service in April 2023, bringing the total number of vessels on the Osaka-Beppu route to two. Details on cabin and fares are scheduled to be announced by the end of October.
