Hokkaido, a treasure trove of food, has a wide variety of confections that boast great taste. Rokkatei’s Marusei Butter Sandwich, Calbee’s Jaga Pokkuru, and Royce’s fresh chocolates (……) are just a few examples. It is hard to decide which one to buy, but finding the “perfect” one from the wide selection is one of the best parts of the trip. This time, we have selected two that we highly recommend to those who have never tried them.
Morimoto’s “Haskap Jewelry”.
First of all, we would like to introduce a confectionery made from Haskap, a specialty fruit of Hokkaido. Morimoto, which has its head office in Chitose City, has been manufacturing and selling this long-selling product since 1978.
Haskap fruits, carefully harvested by contract farmers in Hokkaido, are slowly simmered and made into a jam, then sandwiched between thin cookies with butter cream flavored with a hint of Western liquor. The luscious haskap flavor is accentuated by the couverture chocolate coating that surrounds the cookie.
Although small in size, it is filled with details and luxury as if you were eating a cake. It is sure to please as a souvenir.
