On October 7, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike held a press conference to discuss the national travel support program that will begin on October 11. As previously reported, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has set the start date of the nationwide travel support as October 20 (for travel to destinations in Tokyo; for Tokyo residents traveling to other prefectures, the start date is October 11). (For travel to other prefectures by TMG residents, the program will begin on the 11th).
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s nationwide travel support is named “TADAIMA TOKYO PLUS” and is positioned as an expanded version of an initiative already being implemented jointly with transportation companies.
The period is from October 20 to December 20 (including check-out on December 21). The subsidy is the same as for other prefectures in that 40% of the price of a trip to Tokyo is subsidized (up to 8,000 yen for travel products with transportation/up to 5,000 yen for other products) and a coupon (3,000 yen on weekdays/1,000 yen on holidays) is given for use in purchasing souvenirs, etc.
Eligible applicants are travelers residing in Japan who have received three doses of the novel corona vaccine or can present a negative certificate such as a PCR test.
In addition, “More Tokyo” will be fully implemented from October 20. The program can be used in combination with “TADAIMA TOKYO PLUS,” which requires an overnight stay of 11,000 yen or more on weekdays and 8,000 yen or more on weekends and holidays.
In addition, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has expanded vaccination at large-scale vaccination sites to all third- and fourth-dose recipients since October 6.
