Finally, the National Travel Assistance will start on October 11. That place you’ve always wanted to go, that hotel you’ve always wanted to stay at! I am sure that many of you are excitedly making travel plans.
As it happens, I have actually booked one domestic stay through Rakuten Travel. My destination is Kamikochi, one of Japan’s most famous mountain scenic spots. It has been so long since I last visited Kamikochi that I can’t remember when, and this is the first time I will be staying there. It is the first time for my friend to go to Kamikochi itself to head there with me by car.
Such was my trip to Kamikochi in autumn. It was September 22 when I snapped up a hotel reservation on Rakuten Travel. Coincidentally, that was the day the government announced the start of nationwide travel support, and even more coincidentally, the day I would be staying in Kamikochi was October 11, the day the support project was to begin.
I later realized it and honestly thought, wow, I’m early! But a few days later, Rakuten Travel announced that they were preparing to allow “discount applications” for reservations made before the start of the program. I was eagerly waiting for the “Apply for Discount” button to appear on my personal page.
In the midst of all this, on the evening of October 8, an update on the “NEW” mark appeared on Rakuten Travel’s special national travel support website. This announcement is as follows
