On October 11, the Japan Tourism Agency released “New Travel Etiquette” as a countermeasure against infectious diseases for travelers at the start of its nationwide travel support.
The National Travel Assistance Program stipulates that three doses of the new corona vaccine or negative proof of PCR or other tests are required (however, travel within a prefecture may be subject to “two doses of vaccine/negative test results” at the governor’s discretion). Each prefecture offers free testing services, and testing is also available at airports and other locations.
Although there are no vaccination or inspection requirements for travel not supported by the National Travel Assistance Program, it is important to take basic infection prevention measures to ensure safe and secure travel, and the following “New Travel Etiquette” (general, lodging, food and beverage, transportation, and shopping at tourist facilities) is encouraged. The following “New Travel Etiquette” (overall section/accommodation, food and beverage section/transportation section/sightseeing facilities shopping section) is called for.
The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) has also issued rules on the appropriate wearing of masks depending on the situation, such as when a distance of at least 2 m from a person can be secured or when there is little or no conversation going on.
