The Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s nationwide travel support program “TADAIMA TOKYO PLUS” began on October 20, and the “More Tokyo” tourism promotion program for Tokyo residents was also fully implemented on the same day, increasing the momentum for travel to Tokyo from all over Japan and for Tokyo residents to travel within Tokyo.
It is important to note that in order to receive the subsidy (discount or coupon grant), the applicant must have been “vaccinated at least three times against the new coronavirus” or present “negative proof such as PCR test”.
Although it is easy to use a smartphone app for vaccination certificates (see related article, “National Travel Assistance Vaccination Certificate is Easy with an App! The procedure for issuance is explained”), but if you forget to prepare such preparations as the app or paper documents, you will not be covered by the subsidy when you check in at accommodations or other facilities.
However, if the traveler is a Tokyo resident, he or she can successfully fulfill the requirements for subsidy eligibility if he or she can take the free test offered by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and obtain a negative certificate on the spot.
Both Tokyo Plus/More Tokyo now stipulate the following regarding negative certification.
