Kyoto City and Kyoto Tourism Association (DMO KYOTO), in cooperation with six JR Group companies, will launch the Destination Campaign “Kyoto Winter Journey” from January 1 to March 27, 2023.
This year, the 57th exhibition will highlight the NHK Taiga Drama “What to do with Ieyasu,” which will be broadcast from January 8, and the 850th anniversary of Shinran Shonin’s birth and the 1,250th anniversary of Kobo Daishi’s birth, and will feature special exhibitions of valuable cultural properties at 15 locations that are not usually seen.
In conjunction with the tour, there will be a special course that takes visitors to temples by sightseeing bus or cab, a Zen meditation experience that can be enjoyed in small groups with advance reservations, a plan that includes lunch at a long-established ryotei restaurant, and a stamp rally where visitors can receive a gift. The program is designed to allow visitors to experience and enjoy Kyoto’s unique history, Buddhist art, and traditional techniques.
Details are listed on the special campaign page in Kyoto City’s official “Kyoto Sightseeing Navi”.
