Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture, will begin trial operation of the Haga-Utsunomiya Light Rail Transit (LRT) on November 17. The vehicles are nicknamed “Light Line.
The Haga-Utsunomiya LRT is scheduled to start operation in 2023, and the purpose of this test is to confirm that the section between the east exit of Utsunomiya Station and Hiraishi, where construction has been completed, can run without any problems on the main line.
The city is trying to inform the public about the traffic rules that will change when the LRT runs on the city’s website, and is also posting explanatory videos and other information on YouTube.
