The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Record of Discussions (R/D) with the Royal Government of Cambodia on November 29 in Phnom Penh on the technical cooperation project “Cyber Security Capacity Building Project.
In Cambodia, CamCERT (Cambodia Computer Emergency Response Team), a national CSIRT (see note), is assigned to the ICT Security Department of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. This project aims to enhance the cyber security resilience of the digital society in Cambodia in the future by providing support to improve cyber security capabilities mainly at the ICT Security Department in order to respond to cyber attacks, which are becoming more sophisticated every day.
Through this project, we will contribute to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Goals 9 (Create a foundation for industry and technological innovation) and 17 (Achieve the goals through partnership).
(Note) CSIRT: Abbreviation for Computer Security Incident Response Team. It refers to an organization that takes appropriate actions in the event of an information security problem or accident.
