In Cambodia, the lack of logical and critical thinking and application skills in primary and early secondary education and the poor quality of science and mathematics classes were identified as factors that would hinder industrial and economic development and other opportunities in the long run.
This cooperation contributed to the improvement of the quality of science teacher training in the project areas and to the improvement of science teacher instruction through the training of national trainers in classroom research and inquiry-based teaching, the training of national trainers in science education at all primary teacher training schools and first semester secondary teacher training schools, the implementation of classroom research and inquiry-based teaching by instructors from these two training schools, the preparation of implementation plans for in-service teacher training, and the development of a handbook on classroom research and inquiry-based teaching. Through the development of a handbook for class research and exploratory classes, we improved the quality of science teacher training in the project area and contributed to the improvement of science teachers’ teaching skills.
