Narita International Airport announced the airport operation status for March 2024.
International passenger volume was 2.76 million (86% of the same month in 2019), of which 1.8 million were international passengers (116% of the same month in 2019). This was the highest single month since the opening of the port. Meanwhile, the number of Japanese passengers recovered moderately to 790,000 (55% of the same month in 2019).
The number of international arrivals and departures was 12,976 (85% of the same month in 2019), while the number of domestic arrivals and departures was 4,103 (90% of the same month in 2019) and the number of passengers was 687,000 (98% of the same month in 2019), respectively.
In addition, the total number of air passengers (overall) in FY2023 surpassed 30 million for the first time since the Corona disaster, reaching 35.25 million (85% of the FY 2019 total).
The number of passengers on international flights more than doubled to 27.44 million (81% of FY 2019) in FY 2022. Among them, the number of international passengers increased by 2.7 times to 17.87 million (108% of FY 2019), surpassing the highest number of 17.72 million in FY 2018, the highest since the opening of the port.
The number of Japanese passengers will be 6.78 million (50% of the FY 2019 level), and the number of departures and arrivals will be 135,951 (78% of the FY 2019 level).
As for domestic flights, the number of passengers reached 7.81 million (105% of FY 2019), exceeding the previous highest of 7.46 million in FY 2019 and the highest since the opening of the port. The number of departures and arrivals reached 49,848 (93% of FY 2019).
