Yugawara Town, Kanagawa Prefecture, will hold a genji botaru (firefly) viewing party at Manyo Park (566 Miyaue, Yugawara-cho, Ashigarashita-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture) from May 31 to June 9.
The larvae are raised in the park and released in March, after which the naturally occurring fireflies can be viewed. Admission is free.
Firefly outbreaks are scheduled to be updated on the website around the end of May, with the 2023 results showing the first observation on May 24 and the peak outbreak on June 5.
