Five railroad and bus operators in Kumamoto withdraw from transportation IC cards. Credit card touch settlement to be introduced.

Kyushu Sanko Bus, Sanko Bus, Kumamoto Electric Railway, Kumamoto Bus, and Kumamoto City Bus, which operate rail and bus services in Kumamoto Prefecture, announced at a press conference on May 27 that they will withdraw from Suica and other nationwide transportation IC cards.

They cite high renewal costs as the reason, and will introduce readers that support touch-card payment, etc. from FY2025 onward.
