IHG Hotels & Resorts announced that it has signed a management contract with AXA IM Alts Japan Real Assets to open Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo (189 Higashikazariya-cho, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) by early 2025.

IHG opened the first Holiday Inn in Japan in 1973 in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto, and this marks the return of a Holiday Inn to Kyoto after a 50-year absence. The company currently plans to open two Holiday Inn brand hotels in Japan, including this property, and will have a lineup of 11 Holiday Inn affiliated hotels by 2025.

Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo is located approximately a 2-minute walk from Gojo Station on the Karasuma Subway Line, and all 183 rooms will be completely renovated in the existing facility. After opening, the hotel will feature a lobby lounge and cafe bar, a Japanese-style public bath, and a fitness gym.
