JICA Vice President Katsura Miyazaki met with UN Under-Secretary-General and UNDP Vice President Haoliang Shu at JICA Headquarters on June 25.
Vice President Miyazaki noted that “human security” is positioned as a guiding concept underlying development cooperation in the revised 2023 Development Cooperation Framework, and expressed his desire to deepen cooperation between the two organizations in response to the current complex crises and TICAD, which is scheduled to be held next year. In response, Mr. Shu, UN Under-Secretary-General and UNDP Vice President, also noted the importance of the Humanity-Development-Peace Nexus (HDP Nexus), Women, Peace and Security (WPS), and private sector partnerships, and the two sides exchanged views on future collaboration.
