Coffee time at an American-style café with a pleasant riverside terrace. After enjoying tea time at a western-style house in Yamanote, I felt like having a cup of coffee. I am completely addicted to caffeine. I went down Yamanote toward Motomachi and headed for “JO’S American Cafe Motomachi,” a cafe with an American-style interior that my family had told me was cute. This cafe had a terrace and a roof, so we sat on the terrace when it started to drizzle. The doughnuts and other items looked delicious, but I had already had my fill of sweets, so I ordered only hot coffee. It was humid, but on a rainy day, it was still comfortable to sit on the terrace and feel the outside air. I love terrace seating, but surprisingly, it is hard to enjoy it in the middle of summer, and the seasons when you can enjoy it are limited. I enjoyed chatting with my family and found myself so comfortable that an hour passed in the blink of an eye.
Sicilian cuisine in fashionable Motomachi After strolling in Yamate, we moved to Motomachi and had some sweets, but after walking around a lot, we were getting hungry, so we were looking for a restaurant for dinner and found a nice Italian restaurant, “Trattoria Noto. I entered the restaurant because it was Sicilian cuisine and I thought I could enjoy delicious Italian food with seafood. I ordered an aperitif of “Mimosa,” a cocktail of sparkling wine and orange juice, and my family ordered a non-alcoholic Belgian beer, “Via Desamy 0.0,” since we had to drive. When I tasted the Beer Des Demamee 0.0, I found it to be very tasty! It was hard to believe that it was non-alcoholic, and its fruity flavor is unique to Belgian beer and delicious as a drink. This time, we decided to order a la carte instead of a course. First, “Carpaccio of Sea Bass from Fukushima Prefecture” arrived as an appetizer. This again was fresh and plump, and the salt on the sea bass was very tasty. The chef told me that it is called “Maldon,” a salt with a crystallized and coarse texture. Even when it is on the carpaccio, you can enjoy the contrast between the plump texture of the fish and the coarse texture of the salt. Next, the hot dishes are “Sardine Beccafico” and “Chicory with Blue Cheese. Beccafico is a Sicilian dish made by opening sardines, wrapping them in seasoned bread crumbs, and baking them. Chicory is a vegetable with a slightly bitter taste, but the richness of blue cheese and its bitterness match perfectly, making it a good partner for mimosas. For pasta, we ordered the linguine with slightly flat noodles, “red shrimp bisque tomato sauce, red shrimp tartar and bronte pistachios. The red shrimp tartar combined with the warm tomato sauce transported my mouth to Sicily at once. It felt as if the strong Italian sunshine was pouring down on us. The main course was “Today’s Fresh Fish of the Day with Saffron Sauce” and the fish was sea bass. The crispy white sea bass with a softly fragrant saffron sauce with a hint of ginger and saffron, the flavor of the fish was even more delicious. The non-alcoholic Beer Des Demezamee 0.0 was so good that I added it to my meal to make it even more appetizing. I was also pleased with the restaurant’s thoughtfulness in serving all the dishes in portions for two in advance. I have been going to Chinatown in Yokohama recently, but I had no idea that there was such a European and American-inspired area adjacent to the Chinatown. I decided to take a break from outdoor activities due to the rain, so I decided to walk around the city and explore some interesting stores, which turned out to be a great decision. There are still many stores that I would like to visit again in the near future. It was raining, but it was an enjoyable stroll. It is good to stay at home because of the rain, but it is also good to explore new cafes and restaurants during the rainy season when the temperature is still comfortable before the real heat arrives. We would like to devise ways to enjoy the rainy season, rather than being discouraged by the rain. I would like to further explore ways to enjoy the rainy season.
