JR Tokai will hold “THE NIIGATA Premium Sake Shinkansen [from Tokyo to Shin-Osaka] – Support for World Heritage registration! Enjoy Sado Island’s Local Sake and Niigata’s Food” on August 24.

The event commemorates the registration of Sado Island as a World Heritage Site, and will be held on a chartered Shinkansen train car between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka stations.

Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere in a chartered vehicle with 14 varieties of Niigata sake and a pairing of dishes and sweets made with seasonal ingredients from Niigata Prefecture by “Tsubame Sanjo Bit” to match the sake offered.

The fare is 40,000 yen for the “Nozomi 339” from Tokyo Station to Shin-Osaka Station, and 32,000 yen for the “Nozomi 410” from Shin-Osaka Station to Tokyo Station. The maximum number of passengers for each trip is 60.

The train will be boarded by the brewers or brewery staff of all five Sado Island sake breweries, who will introduce the charms of the breweries and their brands, providing a rare opportunity to hear directly from the brewers. The tour will also include a traditional Sado Island onidaiko (devil’s drum) performance.

In addition, they have also prepared special offers for Niigata sake fans to further enjoy at THE NIIGATA in Ginza and Niigata wo Kome in Umeda, Osaka.
