Otsu SA up and down lanes of Meishin Expressway will be closed today from 15:00 to 21:00 due to Lake Biwa Fireworks Festival. Traffic restrictions also in place in front of Zessho/Otsu Stations and other areas.

Traffic regulations will be enforced on the Meishin Expressway and general roads around the venue for the “2024 Lake Biwa Fireworks Festival.

The Meishin Expressway will close the upper and lower lanes of Otsu SA from 15:00 to 21:00 on August 8, and stores, restrooms, and parking lots will not be available during the closure.

In addition, part of the observation space on the up line and the 2nd and 3rd floor observation decks of the down line rest facilities will be closed all day.

Shiga Prefectural Police will close roads near Otsu and Zessho Stations to vehicular traffic from 17:00 to midnight, and Nagisa Park will be closed to vehicular traffic from 17:00 to 22:00.

They also call for no parking or standing on the sidewalks on the roads around the lake, and to stop parking on the surrounding streets and on the mountain side of the road. Parking monitors and other personnel will conduct checks on abandoned vehicles, and violating vehicles may be towed.

At the end of the convention, Route 558 on the west side of Otsu Station will be closed to vehicular traffic between the Otsu Port Intersection and the Hamaotsu Station intersection, so it will take a considerable amount of time to reach the Kyoto area.
