On September 9, JR East Cross Station Foods Company opened “[Frozen Ekiben] Ekiben-ya Matsuri” on JRE MALL and Rakuten Ichiba. The store offers a lineup of 34 popular ekiben from all over Japan, from Hokkaido to Kyushu, including meat and seafood ekiben. The shop can ship nationwide (excluding Okinawa and remote islands) and is expected to be used for a variety of occasions, such as at home, for teleworkers, and as gifts.

Ekiben-ya Matsuri, the newest e-commerce store, was first opened in 2012 as Ekiben-ya Matsuri Gransta Tokyo, where customers can purchase ekiben from all over Japan at Tokyo Station. The real Ekiben-ya Matsuri boasts the largest scale in Japan, with more than 150 kinds of ekiben on display every day and more than 10,000 meals sold per day. Ekiben-ya Matsuri, which opened at 10:00 a.m. on September 9, will sell 34 kinds of ekiben. Shipping costs are set at a flat rate of 1,500 yen nationwide, and free for purchases of 6,980 yen or more. The main products include “Frozen Beef Dogmanchu,” a frozen version of the most popular item at Ekibenya Matsuri, “Frozen Charcoal Grill Style Beef Tongue Bento,” which is also a frozen version of the third most popular item, “[Frozen] Chicken Bento,” which marks its 60th anniversary this year, and “[Frozen] Aji no Oshijushi” which has been sold for over 100 years. The company also handles “Frozen Chicken Bento,” which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, and “Frozen Aji no Oshijushi,” which has a history of over 100 years. Takaaki Soma, manager of the Bento Business Department, says that in addition to the need to order bento for home delivery, “It is also effective as emergency food. They can also be used as gifts for special occasions, family members, or friends. There are also ekiben that can be defrosted at room temperature and eaten as is, so you can take them with you to work and enjoy a slightly luxurious lunch at the office,” he explained. To commemorate the opening, a trial set of five popular items will be sold for 4,980 yen, and the first 500 customers will receive a 500 yen discount coupon for the first purchase.
