Amazon (Amazon Japan) has launched three new Fire HD 8 series models (Fire HD 8/Kids Model/Kids Pro).
The 2024 model has a new 5 megapixel rear camera. It has the same 6-core processor as the previous model, a battery that can be used for up to 13 hours, and a new 3GB/4GB RAM that allows users to comfortably enjoy video content and games on the go. The storage capacity can be expanded up to 1TB with a microSD card (sold separately).
The new Fire HD 8 is priced at 15,980 yen for 32GB (3GB RAM) and 17,980 yen for 64GB (4GB RAM). The new Amazon genuine cover (3,980 yen) will be available in two new colors, Emerald and Hibiscus, in addition to Black, Blue, and Gray, which are currently on sale. In addition, the protective cover/slim cover for kids will be available in 5 colors/three colors each, priced from 3,980 yen to 4,980 yen.
The new Fire HD 8 Kids model with Blue or Grape exclusive cover is 19,980 yen, and with Disney Princess exclusive cover is 29,980 yen. The new Fire HD 8 Kids Pro with Green or Planet exclusive cover is priced at 19,980 yen, and with Marvel Avengers exclusive cover is priced at 29,980 yen.
Kids’ models and Kids Pro come with a two-year limited warranty and can be returned or replaced free of charge if broken.
As with previous models, it also comes with a year of Amazon Kids+, a subscription service that offers unlimited access to thousands of children’s content, including books, videos, learning apps, and games for ages 3-12.
Most recently, with the cooperation of Disney Publishing, a total of 105 educational videos from Disney and Marvel have been added. Seventy-three of these titles are being released for the first time in Japan.
Both models are subject to the “Prime Thanksgiving Day Advance Sale” and “Prime Thanksgiving Day” starting October 17. During the period, the Fire HD 8 will be available at 5,000 yen off the regular price, and the Kids Model/Kids Pro will be available at 7,000 yen off each. Amazon Prime membership registration is required to purchase at the sale price.
