The Sendai-Miyagi Tourism Campaign Promotion Council invites applications for a new tourism catch copy as a symbol of Sendai-Miyagi’s attractiveness to the rest of Japan. The period is from October 30 to November 29 at 17:00.

This is a project to invite catchphrases of up to 20 words based on the concept of “together with the people of Miyagi Prefecture” in order for the people of Miyagi Prefecture to work together to boost tourism. There are no restrictions on age, professional or amateur status, awards received, or the number of entries received.

The grand prize winner (one person), selected by a vote of prefectural residents (held from early January to early February), will receive a “Miyagi experience of your choice” worth 150,000 yen, including an Abukuma Express experience and a sightseeing tour with an exclusive tour guide by the Date Busyotai. The four winners of the Excellence Award will receive a rice cooker from Iris Ohyama and 10 kg of Miyagi rice “Datashomu”. In addition, the Entry Prize (30 winners) will be selected by drawing from among the applicants and will receive a Nissenren gift card worth 5,000 yen.

The new catchphrase will be widely used in the public and private sectors in various tools such as tourism posters, pamphlets, banners, etc. In addition, posters will be displayed at educational institutions above elementary school in the prefecture (919 schools in all) to attract the interest of the younger generation who will lead the next generation.

The current catchphrase, “Smiles Blooming on Date Travel,” has been in use since 2011, and was created to express Miyagi Prefecture’s desire to provide smiling hospitality in response to the support it received from around the world and throughout Japan in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
