JR West will be the first ticketless service to offer the KOUNOTORI Subscription Pass, a subscription service that allows passengers to board the KOUNOTORI limited express train as many times as they wish for a fixed price, for a limited period and section. The sales period is from November 18 to February 28, 2025, with a limited number of tickets available each day. Only e5489, an online reservation service, and credit card payments will be accepted.

This is part of a demonstration experiment aimed at improving the convenience of the “KOUNOTORI” limited express train. During the period of use, passengers can reserve any number of reserved ordinary car seats on the limited express “KOUNOTORI” for the designated section. Passengers will need to present a commuter pass or the SF balance of an IC card ticket. Only one seat can be reserved per train on the day before and the day of use.

The validity period is 30 days from the date of purchase (excluding the restricted use period from December 28, 2024 to January 6, 2025). The validity period will not be extended or refunded in the event of full seats or cancelled operations, as well as when the restricted use period is included.

Fares are available in two types, regular and some with WESTER points: Shin-Mita/Mita to Osaka/Shin-Osaka is 6,500 yen or 6,000 yen plus 500 points, and Shinoyamaguchi to Osaka/Shin-Osaka is 7,500 yen or 7,000 yen plus 500 points. No children’s version is available.
