Station building “Kyoto Porta” souvenir/food zone and underground shopping mall renewed. 17 stores including Odashi and Dashimaki / Star Shokudo / Fish Gashi Nippon Ichi

Posted on 2025-01-202025-02-27 by Editor in Chief

From late February to April, Kyoto Porta will renovate 17 stores in the station building’s second-floor souvenir/food zone “Kyoto Meishaki-Miyako” and the west and south areas of the underground shopping mall.

Located in front of the West Exit ticket gate of JR Kyoto Station (north-south free passageway on the second floor of the station building), “Kyo Meishakudo Kyu” will expand to eight stores handling boxed lunches and prepared foods.

New restaurants include “Kyoto Rikyu -Odashi and Dashimaki”, the first of its kind in a commercial facility, “Star Shokudo”, a Western-style restaurant that has long been a local favorite, and “Uogashi Nippon Ichi”, where you can enjoy Edomae sushi either as a takeaway or eat-in (standing).

Around the entrance, the products and foodstuffs sold in the sales area will be visually represented to appeal to first-time visitors to Kyoto Station in an easy-to-understand manner.

In the south area of the underground shopping arcade, the lifestyle goods brand “Cath Kidston,” which is favored by adult women, will make a reappearance, taking advantage of its location directly connected to JR Kyoto Isetan.

In the west area of the underground shopping arcade, “Freeze Mart” and “Peach John” will newly open, expanding fashion for millennials, who are the main customers of the underground shopping arcade, and “Gelato Pique” will expand its store area and move from the south area to the west area.
