800,000 Tulips in Bloom at “Niigata Prefecture Tainai City Tulip Festival 2023” from April 22

Posted on 2023-04-172023-04-17 by Editor in Chief

The Tainai City Tourism Association in Niigata Prefecture has announced that the Tainai City Tulip Festival 2023 will be held from April 22 to May 4.

The venue is Nagaike Recreation Forest Park. Hours are from 8:30 to 17:00 (until 15:00 on the last day). The fee is 200 yen.

Tainai City is one of the leading tulip production areas in Japan because the location of the Tainai Sand Dunes and Niigata Prefecture’s unique weather are ideal for growing tulip bulbs.

The event will feature 800,000 tulips of about 60 varieties spread over a 2-hectare field. This year, tulip illumination (nighttime lighting) will be held for the first time. At the venue, food and beverage booths will be set up by restaurants and confectionery stores in the city, where visitors can enjoy “the taste of Tainai.

In addition, there will be an opening event, a ride on an elevating work truck (for a fee), a tulip photo contest, a tulip wedding, and on the last day, visitors can watch the tulip flowers being harvested all at once.

Visitors can also enjoy the “Rape Blossom Maze” in the adjacent 2-hectare rape field. The vividly colored carpet of flowers spreading all over the field is said to be breathtaking.
