Yamaguchi Prefecture is promoting the prefecture’s many sake breweries for its nationwide travel support program, “Traveling Yamaguchi Discount Plus,” which began on October 11, 2012.
According to the prefecture, “Sake is produced by taking advantage of the rice and water grown in the rich land. It may not be well known that Yamaguchi Prefecture is home to a wide variety of diverse and unique sake breweries, such as Toyo Bijin, Otters, Ganki, and Tenbi,” and also notes that the prefecture’s overseas shipments of sake have rapidly increased 15-fold in the past 10 years, making it a region that is growing in global attention.
In addition to “Yachiyo” by Yachiyo Shuzo and “Otters” by Asahi Shuzo, various breweries offer brewery tours, which the prefecture hopes visitors will enjoy when they travel toward the end of the year.
